Mine doesnt change at all stays about the same.I looked in the owners manual but dont see anything about spec. My O/B is a Merc 150 if that helps. Thanks.

Re: Water pressure reading?

It varies by the motor manufacturer. My Merc ran at something like 4-5 psi at idle and around 20-25 at WOT. My Rude runs 4-5 psi at idle and 30 psi at WOT with a good pump impeller

Most midrange HP engines will run about 15 - 17 PSI at WOT. You said yours stays the same. Same as what? What are the numbers at idle and WOT.

My 94 175 Johnson reads 18 PSI at 3800 RPM with a new pump kit.

Mine is about 9-10 psi at idle. Even when im at 5k rpms It stays the same. Never really hit WOT with it. The fastest I've gone with her is 25 knots. Dont know if thats fast or not. Do u guys think I have a problem? The motor runs great never had a problem with it since I've owned it for over a year. I take it out fishing every weekend.

Re: Water pressure reading?

If you use your motor every weekend and have not had over heating problems, it sounds like your pump is okay. Since your gauge is new, I would be looking at your water tubing. Perhaps it is pinched some where or has some dirt in it. Can you disconnect it at both ends and blow some air through it?

Thanks guys for all your responses. The reason for the new guage is because my RPM guage wasnt working. So I decided to replace them all with white face guages. But even with the old water press guage it was the same. I didnt try blowing thru the hose. I guess when the season is over I'm going to replace the T-stats, impellar and check that hose.
