There is a 1 and 1/2" gap on the forward corner of the center section and the driver window. and overlaps on the rearward corner.
I bout this boat that someone else had started working on it. They had replaced most of the floor and bow section. All the interier is out of it.
I'm considering removing their flooring job and starting over. Could the floor have anything to do with the window fit. I'd like to have the window
The boat is an '85 Bayliner Capri bowrider 18.5' 5.0litre with an OMC

thanks

On my bowrider (Conroy 17.5 dirrivative of Glastron) the windsheild did not line up after I removed the floor. Although not as trastic as yours, it is caused by the two walkthrough halfs not being supported by the floor.

When I put a board under them simulating the floor level they returned to their normal postion.

I agree with gallavantin. Seeing as the floor has been replaced, try shimming the dash sections to get the windshield "square" again. The hull/floor probably moved a bit while the new floor was installed causing the misallignment of the windshield.

Also, if shimming up the dash does not completely re-allign the windshield, don't be afraid to remove and re-possition the windshield frame to get the proper allignment.

wow.. mines off, but not that bad. might take a combination of relocating the windshield, proping the dash, and adjusting the supports...

don't move the windshield. adjust the consoles until they match. they are connected to the side of the boat, so the side have moved also.

Re: Windshield doesn't line up

same thing in my 89 capri.....however yours is crooked......

td (above) is correct....the corner of the windsheild is moulded and there is little room for movement.

have a look at the aft corners of the windsheild. is that screw in place? it will move the whole thing outta whack.

it if isnt that screw....it is the floor......

however, because, the top of the windsheild is overlapped and the bottom is not. that means someone tried to squeeze the tops togeather......(i dont know how)? but that is what it looks like.

i would start by checking the screw, if that doesnt help, try squeezing it togeather to see what is outta whack.

if you can get it lined up......when you re glass the floor, have it braced in place when you glass it....after its glassed, it shouldnt move.

ill be doing mine soon, if i find out any thing else, ill pm you

cheers

Thanks for the ideas so far. Do any of ya'll think this may be from the previous owners floor job?

You must've replied while I was posting. I just get the feeling the floor is outta whack. Given what I've seen of the previous owners carpentry skills I figure I should remove everything he's done and start over
Thoughts
I could say F it and leave the center section out but it would be nice to have it "just right"

Re: Windshield doesn't line up

In looking it the photo very closely, it looks like the PO may have also replaced the plywood that holds the starboard console. It looks to me like the angle of the plywood holding the console is way off compared to the other side. Which also says that he had the windows off at some point and then put them back on. So it may not be the floor at all. It may be, as already stated just plain old poor craftsmanship. I've used your pic to illustrate...

Look at the red line. Look at how far off the angles are compared to each other. The Starboard Console support sits well ahead of the portside one. I'd say that' your problem. Your pic was taken nearly straight down the center so there really shouldn't be that much perspective distortion that would exagerate one side from the other.

When in doubt, rip it out! (and then fix it)

Re: Windshield doesn't line up

In fact they did "replace" the plywood holding the consols. When I removed what they had installed I found they had left some rotted wood that was still attatched to the foam. So I will have to fix that as well
