I own a 95 evinrude intruder 175 and am having trouble with the idle. It will keep dieing off unless I push the choke in for a split second. if i idie around I always have trouble with this. can anybody help???
check your spark and compression on all cylinders, what are your idle RPM's in gear in the water? when were your carbs, last cleaned, and rebuilt with kits?
the powerhead is a reman. and has 84 hours on it. I have not had the carbs done since the overhaul. The compression should be good on all cyl. but have not checked it yet. It idles around 800 rpm or so. when I run it at 4800rpm for a while it idles perfect for just 5 or 10 min. I can also hear a ping like sound when it is reved up out of gear. Not sure if it does this in drive but it doesn't sound like it is. I am running a hoter plug champion QL78YC gaped at.030 and changed fuel filter.
