Disconnect the gas line and battery cables from the engine and take the fuel bowl off of the carb for the cylinders that is spraying fuel and check to see if the float or inlet needle in the carburetor may be hanging up or the float is out of adjustment causeing the fuel to continually overflow from the carb to the engine base causing the lockup as you mention, another words flooding out the engine. max!

Re: 1990 force 120 L foulling plugs

Have you checked compressin to see what your numbers are?
Other than that at this point I'm beginning to wonder if there's a problem with the fuel recirculation system for 3&4 if you have that kind of spray coming out of the cylinders!
Or your missing something with the carbs and don't realize it!
If your 120 has the little hose to the fuel recrculation drain covers, on my engine there are two covers but yours is different I think, you can pull the hose and attempt to blow thru it if you can the valve in the drain cover is not working properly, I beleive is the way it works, don't have my notes in front of me. This will cause severe wet fouling of the cylinders for that drain cover I beleive, it's a long shot but possible if your engine uses this type recirculation system. Just be sure you can get new gaskets before tearing into it, I took mine off and have had a bad time finding the gaskets for my 89 125 Force. Hope something here will help! max!

Re: 1990 force 120 L foulling plugs

Thanks Max there are 2 drain covers 1 for each carb, but just 1 tube coming off bottom carb manifold, and it is hanging down below,as the hose nipples are snapped off both drain covers . someone tried to glue them back without success, so im going to try and drill and thread a new one on and reattach the hose. by leaving it hanging will it cause problem other than dripping and making a mess? concerned about exhaust gasket leak as I found a few loose bolts, and tightened had it out for a run set timing under load, up to 4700 RPM, with out missing a beat, for about 20 min. idled down, and it stalled, starter laboured big time to crank,so left to decompress and it started again getting dark so turned idle up to keep from stalling and headed back to marina . got automotive tach to measure rpm at engine to set idle speed in forard.tonight. thanks for your input ,dont want to remove exhaust if I don,t have to.can the exhaust pressurize crank case to the point to cause the starter to labour? it is a new starter.
