04 5.0 MPI Problem

I have an 04 5.0 MPI with about 100 hours on it. Had it out this weekend for the second time, and it would take a while to start when warm (really wouldn't hit right away). It ran great, just seemed a little strange because it would crank longer than normal.

Has anyone ever had this problem?

When was the last time it was tuned up and had new fuel filters installed?

Just bought the boat last week. It didn't do it at all the first weekend I had it out, but it started to this weekend. I was going to get air and fuel filters for it tonight and change them along w/ the oil.

You won't find an air filter, boats don't have them. You can remove the flame arrestor off the throttle body and make sure it's clean.
When you remove your old fuel filter, dump it out into a clear container and see if there was any water in it. The water will seperate and settle to the bottom.
Don't skimp on the spark plugs, get the right type AC plugs and DO NOT get the Champion # merc posts for your engine. They really don't work very well.

Anything but Champions. I normally replace Champion plugs the customers insall themselves, and it usually cures the running problems.

Do they come from the factory with champions?

My guess is that the guy I got it from never changed the plugs or wires.

No, they do not come with Champions. Do you have a Mercruiser SN for your engine. Merc doesn't list anything by year, only SN.
