I just bought this motor for my 24 ft pontoon. Starts great, idles great, pumps water great but when out it wont go into full throttle. It acts like the linkage is pulling enough. I adjusted the linkage twice and my only sucess is getting it to idle higher. Do i have a high speed jet plugged? is the prop too big? At idle the motor pushes the pontoon great, alot of troque. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am tickled that I have a motor that will start and cruise but I would like the option to open it up once and a while.

thanks,
Joe

Not an expert here, but open it up and observe the butterflies in the carbs while operating the throttle lever. Should open all the way up. If it doesn't, you probably have stretched cables, poor adjustments, or a control box problem.

If they open up, I'd rebuild the carbs, do a formal link&sync, change out the fuel filter, and check all of the fuel lines for obstructions and rot.
