75 - 90 difference?

Hi,
does amyone know, what is the difference in the 75hp and 90hp merc (1993)
The cc is the same and both 3 cyl?

is it possible to upgrade the 75 to a 90?

Yup. Easiest, best and cheapest way is to take it to the dealer and trade it in for a 90.
This comes up all the time. If 2 engines are the same displacement but have different hp ratings it is due to, but not limited to, different carbs, porting, exhaust tuning, compression ratios, cylinder heads. To make more power out of the same displacement more rpm is required that's the reason for the forementioned differences.
