So on Tues July 8th I call my local dealer and order some parts and the person tells me 2 days delivery time and she would call me to come get them when they are in.
So on Friday July 11th no call and I call them to see if they are in so I can go boating on the weekend. Parts are not there and the guy I speak to has no idea where they are.
I'm away for a few days and when I return on Wednesday 16th I call and after some questions the lady eventually tells me that she has 2 of the 6 parts but the others are back ordered?
Back ordered?? Why didn't she call me and tell me that on the 10th or 11th when she got the other parts??
At this point I am pissed because I could have had the parts in 4 or 5 days from evinrude.com. I demand to know when the parts are going to be there and she said she would call me back.
Thursday 17th she calls me to tell me that the parts would be 5 days so I'm stuck between canceling the whole order and waiting 5 days for the parts to get from evinrude.com or wait it out. Like a fool I choose to give them a last chance.
Please take note that the parts she said are on backorder are readily available on evinrude site.
I pisses about this whole situation as my boat has sat in the drive for 2 weekends now! Should I be pissed? or am I overreacting?

Should I be pissed?
ya could be, but it ain't gonna change anything... only thing that will change anything is to cancel yer order and go with who ya think can supply the parts right away..... something to consider though. is the dealer ya got the parts on order from your regular dealer? one that ya'd normally deal with. if so. ya might just let the order go so they make their dime... just don't alienate them if your gonna use them in the future... ya know what they say. payback is a mf......

if they are back ordered , the dealer can do nothing about it. i agree she should have made a follow up call.

If she had made that call I would have sourced them elsewhere rather than be sitting here today without a boat. Sucks!

Well I just got a call saying my parts were in and after confirming the parts I discovered they had left out one part!
My goodness they are totally incompetent! Now I have to pull a mcgyver and make the piece!

Re: Local Dealer!

I ordered an engine, one week delivery.

Waited 1 week and checked,,,,,they had no record of it being ordered

Re-ordered engine, another week wait

Three weeks since I first ordered the engine,,,,still no engine

Four weeks gone by and called.....engine is in

Pick up engine,,,,,,,,crate specifies that it is a Truck engine

Business said uncrate it and install

They call back 15 min later and said do not install it.

Returned it to the store. They reordered the marine engine

Its now 6 weeks and they say it will be two more weeks due to none being in stock

8 weeks has gone by and still no engine

9 weeks and still no engine

10 weeks and finally it came in

Uncrated the engine to find a brass casting plug in bottom of crate

Notified them and they sent a mech out,,,,,,another week later

He can't get the plug to stay in because someone booggerd the hole up. Mech calls the supplier,,,they said put a rubber expansion plug in.

Finally after 12 weeks,,,I got my engine in the boat and in the water.

That was 7 years ago and the engine is still running strong.

The price at first was $1900. I got a 15% discount for opening up a credit account. First screw up they deducted another 10% and each screw up after that. By the time I got the engine,,,,I paid $1100 for it. It still stunk because I lost half of my boating season. Live and learn is all one can do.........SS
