I'm new to boating and purchased a boat that has been sitting for 2 years. I poured in sone stabil into the fuel and it started up, ran rough then backfired and refused to start again bad fuel I'm sure since its shelf life is 90 days. I used a shop vas like I read on this forum and drained the old gas out or the tank, It worked like a charm. I'm replacing the fuel water seperator and fuel pump filter tomorrow.I rebuilt the carb today, and the fuel line was seized up in the brass nut that goes into the mercarb. does anyone know the part # for the replacement? the serial # for my engine is 0F009421, it is a 1993 model. The fuel line broke off right at the nut therefous I cant just take a piece of rubber fuel hose and clamp it to make a splice. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new fuel line? Are there any other issues I should worry about fixing.

Buy a new fuel line! The connection and line needs to be rigid because we are talking about fuel here!! You can get all your part numbers off www.mercruiserparts.com Just log on and go to the find your part with pictures page.

Thanks I'll just bite the bullet and buy another fuel line.

You can go to an auto parts store and buy straight 3/8" fuel line with the fittings already attached and bend up your own line. That is going to be FAR cheaper than buying the official fuel line from Mercruiser.

And before anyone gets too concerned - yes it is safe and legal. ;)

I think I'll go to the auto parts store rather than spend 45.00
