My 2002 195 Capri guages dont work, none of them including the speedometer. The shop said the whole dash pod needs to be replaced but cant find the part. Any ideas where to get this? Thanks

Nonsense is my comment to the dealer even though I haven't seen the boat. The speedometer is not electrical. There is a plastic tube on the back that runs to the pitot on the back of the boat or to the pitot on the engine. That pitot is probably plugged up with debris or the hose is disconnected. As for the gauges, what have you done to try and isolate the problem. If you have +12V and ground to one gauge, at least that one should work. You are likely missing one or both of those connections. Look before you spend a bunch of money on a new console full of gauges that you don't need.

Silvertip hit the nail on the head. Before you start throwing dollars out, start checking. You'll need a test meter or test light. Hook the negative side of the test meter or lamp to a known ground. With the key on, check for voltage at the guage panel. Use the generic wiring diagram at this forum for a starting point. Find the guage to which the power first arrives. All the other guages are pig-tailed to it. If there's no power, the break is before them. If there is power, the break is in your ground circuit. Look and you will find. Good luck. Hy

go get yourself a good volt ohm meter . while your at it get about 10 feet of electrical wire and put an alligator clip on each end. clip one end of it to your battery neg post . clip the other to one lead of the ohm meter . locate the dash ground wire and compare resistance . an open ground wire to the dash will cause the gauges to read crazy. once you verify the ground is ok then you can test power wires . Balance coil gauges generally have the power in common and the grounds go to the sending units. unless your dash is solid state electonics, the thats a different animal altogether. remember that there is also gauge lights that may be in each bezel usually these are tied to a switch or tied into nav lights.

Grounds on gauges don't go to the sending units. Grounds on gauges go to ground (as in the ground buss on the fuse/breaker panel and then to the negative terminal of the battery) via the boats wire harness. The "S" (sender) terminal on a gauge goes to the applicable sender which has a separate ground connection. Electrically the gauge and sender ground are the same potential because they are -- well, ground.

Guys, relax. We've all done our job and given him good advice. Now it's up to him to follow it. Oh, the guages are daisy-chained on the positive side; not pig-tailed. Senior momemt, sorry. Good luck. Hy

Appreciate all the advise. I did try to find electrical current to the guages last season and couldnt. Ran out of time before leaving to back home. (We keep the boat in Mass and go up every summer). I took it to be stored and thats what they told me over the winter. I thought that didnt sound right but anyway. I will be up there this weekend and start over again.

Again, thanks.;)
