4.3L High Oil Pressure

I have a 4.3L crate motor in my current boat. After changing the oil at the beginning of this summer the oil pressure was running at 70 psi at idle and would peg with more rpm?s both warm and cold. I hooked up a mechanical gauge with the same results. From there I pulled the motor and replaced the oil pump with a stock replacement. Now my oil pressure is 60 at idle and climbs from there with more RPM?s. I am running Mercruiser/Quicksilver 25w-40 oil and a Sierra 18-7879 oil filter. Last year the oil pressure would stay around 40-50psi with the same weight of oil and filter. Is 60psi and higher still too high? Should I try different weight oil? Could the new filter be bad from the manufacturer? Does any one have any suggestions?

Its the same motor. I just had to pull the motor to replace the oil pump. There is no sender hooked up. All the PSI readings are done with a mechanical gauge that is currently hooked up.
