Hello Everyone, I just purchased a 1986 Forester 180 Phantom with a 1986 Force 125 and i just have a few questions.

First of all, I was wondering what the premix ratio was the previous owner told me he always ran 40:1 and I just wanted to make sure this was correct.
The boat didnt smoke or smell to indicate like it was too heavy of a mix.

Secondly, When you trim and tilt under speed the motor it is very slow when it is down all the way then when it goes to "trailer" it is much quicker. I had an 1987 Force 50 and it did the samething but it had a leaky pump, just wondering if this is just how they are or if it has a weak pump or something.

Lastly, when I had the boat of it didnt seem very powerful, it still did about 38mph but it just didnt feel like it had alot of power. I did a compression test before I bought the boat and all four cylinders were at 150lbs. I think it might be a prop thing since the motor started right away and ran pretty smooth but i'm not sure.

Any input would be great

16 oz. TCW-3 oil to six gallons of gas.

Pretty much the way they are I think mine does about the same with the tilt and trim.

What rpm were you getting from the motor at wide open throttle?
What size prop are you running?
What do you mean by powerful, kind of bogged at full throttle?
Didn't make enough rpm?
How heavy is your boat? max!

Maxium thanks for the info on the oil and trim, as far as rpms I think i'm getting about 3800 but I will verify that tonight and i'll also have to look what size the prop is

I also heard you should decarb these motors twice a year and change the plugs because they arent as clean running as other motors, any truth to this?

Max,

I had the boat out today and it was getting about 4200 rpms at WOT, then I pulled the prop off to look for any markings and the only thing I can find is michigan and 07 21 07 stamped on the back of the prop so I dont know if the 21 means 21pitch or what.

I'm no good with prop size either!

There are a lot of factors to consider, boat size, weight, prop size, etc, in determining if the boat is running in the proper rpm range. max!
