With the 4.3 and looking as good as it does for '99 I would say it's an excellent boat. I don't know the market in your area well enough to say whether it's a great deal or not. Looks like, at worst, a fair price to me. Check carefully that any and all wood in the boat is solid.

NADA shows that boat to be avg retail of $8430. With all of those toys it would be worth avg. Most bost are going for low retail right now which is $7630. Looks like a very nice boat but don't think its quite worth what they are asking.

I don't know if it's a deal or not but the extreme haste in your tone is a bit concerning. Go slow...buy right...enjoy for a long time.

Good luck! Welcome to the boating bug.

i agree get it down some. no money transfer until you see them sign title to boat and trailer, check the id #'s. Florida does not required notary. does Arizona? do not buy it without a test drive for at least 30 minutes.

Buying a boat

1st you need to decide what you want to use it for, fishing, cruising, or water sports.

2nd how many people adults, children you want on board of the average outing.

3rd outboard, inboard-outboard, or inboard power plant.

4th Budget, what you want to pay, and what you are willing to pay, when you find
Exactly what you want.

You can hire a marine surveyor, to inspect the boat, or you can do it yourself.

You are mainly looking for soft spots in the deck, transom, cracks, all signs of a rotten, under frame. You walk all over the deck, that a mallot, or hammer with wooden handle, using handle, tap all over the transom, a shape rap is good solid base, a thud, is questionable base.

The motor should be clean, no spots where the paint is discolored, or pealing from heat, having run hot. (This part for outboard motors Compression should be atleast 100psi, and within 10% of each other,)
Spark on all cylinders, good pee stream, check lower unit for water in oil.

The overall condition of the boat will tell you a lot, as to how it has been maintained.
boat motor combo, A 30 year old may be in better condition, than a 3 year old.

Buying a boatshould not be a quick decision, especially not now. The market is flooded with good (and not so good) used boats. Slow down and make the right decision. If this one gets away there are 100 more just as good.

I'm not sure if you showd me this to show how you can get scammed if you try to quickly buy a boat, or if you meant to say I can strike a better deal....but either way, I feel really bad for anyone that got sucked into that scam. I guess paying a fair price is worth knowing its legit.

I think I know that boat. I believe it is in my neighborhood.

It looks nice.

FYI. Boats in AZ have no titles, only registrations. Trailers DO have titles, make sure it's clear.

Get the owner to take you out to Saguaro for a shakedown, test ride.

The craigslist post was just sidebar.
What got my attention was the combination of "need some opinions-FAST" "PLEASE HELP QUICK" and "know diddly about boats".

Slow and deliberate. As you can see in Tashasdaddys' post, there's alot that goes into a boat purchase. I'd rather take my time and miss the deal than rush into a boat that isn't sound or doesn't meet my family's needs.

With that said, good luck on your decision! I think you picked a good forum to get your information. I've learned alot here since I started trolling this site some time ago.

Good luck!

I really don't think that is a deal at all for a Tahoe that is soon to be 10 years old. Around here, I could buy a Sea Ray with same setup for that same price, but it would be a couple of years newer!

That Tahoe is a pretty cheap boat to start with. 10 years old, a very bad market for selling a boat.... IF it's the boat you want, I'd offer maybe $7.5k then negotiate a bit. It does look to be in very good shape.

You should test drive it. Different boats handle differently. You may or may not like the drive of a Tahoe bowrider. Not a rip on Tahoe, same with many brands, but truth is, many people don't care for the tahoe boats much. Does that mean YOU wouldn't love it....nope, so drive it and find out.
