Hello Everyone,
I am new here. I am trying to get an older boat up and running. It is a 1978 Sleekcraft. The problem is the surge brake master cylinder is missing. The surge brake system was made by Atwood. Atwood no longer makes parts for these. The person I got on the phone from Atwood said that the master cylinders were identical to an automotive master cylinder. He did not know what make and model. Does anyone out there have any info on these old Atwood parts.

I know I could buy a new Surge brake unit but it will not bolt on to the toungue I have. I would have to redo the tongue and that involves relocating the tongue jack and alot of welding. So If I can I would like to avoid that.

I also need the damper. It is a small unit. Cylinder is only 5" long.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Karl

Yes, It is older. The master cylinder that it used was an automotive type with a reservior on top and a flange mount. Like this attached picture. If someone knows what car master cylinder Atwood used for this system I could just order it.
Thanks Karl

Is this the unit with the black cover? Bin the 70's my parents had that type and they changed their master cylinder. I will see if they have a file still of what they may have replaced theirs with.

How did you find that picture of the master cylinder?

Yes, it has a black cover. The picture is from NAPA Auto parts site.

That picture is not the exact match. I just used a picture that looked similar to the master cylinder that was removed and lost. If I could find out what car (make & model) master cylinder Atwood used for this surge brake system I could order it from NAPA.
