40:1 pre mix on 1986 Force 125?

I am trying to figure out what the premix ratio is on my motor i've heard both 50:1 and 40:1, i'm running a 1986 Force 125

Well the guy I bought it from always ran 40:1 and he had it for over 10 years would it be a bad idea to change to 50:1

50:1 is the correct mixture. Your plugs will probably foul less if you use it
