merc 3litre inboard

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have recently taken my boat out of storage and tried to start it but all i'm getting is a loud clicking noise. The battery is brand new and i turned the starter by the bolt to make sure it is not jammed. Can anyone help? The engine is a 3.0l mercruiser alpha 1 year about 1997.

Is it a single "Clunk" sound, or a rapid clicking?

If it's the latter, get a wire brush or some sandpaper, and clean all of the terminals. You probably just have a bad connection somewhere. Assuming that the battery was fully charged before installation, of course.

Ditto the previous advice...if you're getting a rapid clicking, it's most likely due to a lack of sufficient power reaching the starter, either through a poorly charged battery or bad connections.
