I just started looking for a deck boat 20'-24'. I saw a sharp looking sport deck from Azure the AZ 220. Does anyone have one and can you tell me how they ride. They come with a Lifetime structural, 5 year stem to stern and 2 year Gel Coat warranty which seem pretty strong.

Re: Azure sport decks?

Azure is the fiberglass side of Bennington Marine and they are a sweet looking boat.

I work for Bennington and the Azure plant is right behind the weld shop I work in so I see the boats all the time.

I wish I was able to run one, I can borrow a company toon now and then but haven't talked my way into an Azure yet.

If you go to the Bennington site they have reprinted reviews from various magazines you can read and look at all the different models, worth a look.

Good luck

I have been looking at the Azure and Hurricane deck boat lines. I was impressed by the Azure boats. I haven't been able to find a dealer for a demo ride so I'm interested in any feedback by current owners as well.

Be very leary of the Hurricane, Godfrey marine is on its last couple swirls of the drain, I really think they will be the next company to go under.

I hear they are on COD with all of there vendors, no check no parts, so it is only a matter of time.

So getting parts or service could be difficult. something to think about.

Thanks for the heads up on Godrey's financial situation. I guess I'll cross them off the list now.

Re: Azure sport decks?

We have a local dealer sold azure for 2 years. I have 2007 188 & 2 of my buds have the 220,s. their boats have been flawless where as 3 of us that bought 188,s have had huge grief. Mine is back at the factory in Indiana to get re-hulled. 1 has came back but they messed it up & is going back again. The hull design in the 18' boats leads to nighmare handling whereas the 20' & larger are awesome. We have also had severe gel coat cracks in the smaller boats & the larger ones have been perfect. I traded for a lowe deck boat & the dealer is buying back the other 18' boats. The 20,s & larger are awesome however. We can,t believe it,s the same boat builder that makes these same models. Anyway Azure really backs it,s product but do not buy their 18' model.

The primary complaint I've seen on the Azure sports decks is some are pigs getting up and going. However, if they have the upgraded I/O or the outboard than ...... a sweet boat. Just don't get one with marginal power.

tmh nailed it. my good bud with a 350 mag in his 220 is a total pig out of the hole. Gets ups & scoots after a while but even going to a low pitch prop it struggles to get on plane.
