can i get some pics-72' 100hp

can some one give some pics of a good running johnson 100. Mine is from 1972. I want to make sure everything looks good. THanks guys. My problem is that i can go about 5 MPH but if i give it any more throttle it dies. TO me it sounds like a choke is still pulled/turned on. BUt im not sure. THanks guys!

have the carbs been cleaned lately? have you check compression, spark?

no, no, and yes. from reading all the other posts, clearly the carbs need cleaned if not rebuilt. it has spark, and im pritty sure the compression is good. There are just a few weird looking items that i want to make sure are correct on the engine, so thats what i want pictures for.

I don't have your engine so no pictures, but I can tell you that the choke may well be on because the choke solenoid was wired originally to a temperature switch at the top of the engine.

Most of the "automatic choke" systems were disabled subject to OMC Service Bulletin #1335.

If you find that the switch is still wired to the terminal block, you may want to terminate it. The location of the switch is as circled in the thumbnail.

you waste your time just cleaning, they need to be rebuilt. and a picture of a 73, would do you no good, if you have a 72. they are different.

hmmm, my bad that was a miss key. i knew they were diff. big fingers i guess. Thanks for the pics and info but can i get pictures of the actuall engine under the cover? theres a little copper/brass hose type thing that is crimped closed on the drivers side of the engine and im wandering where this should go. So pics of the engine would be awsome. thanks guys!

post picture on your situation, will be easier, than trying to find another motor to take a picture of. then we can see what you have, and possibly recognize it.

alright. got the boat to run higher. i moved the screw placement on the throttle and it runs good.
