Hook in arm, then thumb

My younger brother lived to fish and my suster loved to watch him but did not enjoy fishing herself. Well my brother reasr back to cast his rapala and upon throwing forward he feels he's caught on something at the same time my sister makes a blood curdling scream. My sister takes off running and actually pulls the fishing pole right out from my brother hands. My father goes out to find out what the noise is all about and sees my sister running up from the lake with a fishing pole in tow about 10 feet behind her.
The last treble hook on the rapala was deeply imbedded into my sister's forearm. The first thing the old man does is cuts the fishing line so just the rapala is hanging off her arm. The next thing he does, which if asked I'm sure he still regrets to this day some 27 years later, is he takes a wire cutter to cut the 1 treble hook from the rest of the fishing lure. He planned to then send her to the hospital but he was afraid the lure would get caught onto something.
He told my sister to not move and as he was lining up the cutter he must have touched the lure because my sister yanked her arm back. When she did this the other side of the treble hook became imbedded into the old mans thumb. My sister pulled while screaming and then the old man starts screaming. My sister took off running and pulled so hard the treble hook actually broke in two.
The hook was in the thumb print side of my fathers thumb and stuck out through the center of his thumbnail. They both jumped around screaming for a few minutes then after all calmed down my mother drove them both to the emergency room so they could each have the hook removed.
Now I know this sounds impossible or made up, but trust me it all happened right in front of me and to this day my sisters forearm and the old mans thumb bear the painful evidence.

I remember being five or six years old and trout fishing with my father. He was getting ready to change a lure over on my fishing pole and was holding the hook in his mouth while I was holding the pole. Being a kid I was having a hard time standing still and jerked the pole buring that small trout hook in his lower lip.

I was scared to death from all the blood pouring out as he used some pliers and the side mirror on the car to remove the hook from his lip.

He never said a word about it being my fault as he used this as a lesson on why to never hold a hook in your mouth. We went on to have a great day fishing.

Ditto! That cousin of mine got a hook in his arm just a few days ago while in my boat, he yanked that lure loose from the tree and that lure hit him right in the arm and went pretty deep .

Years back another cousin of mine got hooked in the neck by another cousin.

I got hit with a large, large, read large plug while fishing for tarpon and snook. My friend slam me flat in the top of my head and when he pulled took my hat with the lures.... It did not cut me or anything but I had a headache for hours!!!!

My kids were fishing off the dock and instead of putting the rods away in the shed as per standard operating procedure, they leaned them on the outside - hook and salmon egg bait and all. Nina the family Doberman came along and decided to lick the bait. Well, of course the hook ends up half way through her bottom lip.

Well, there is no arguing with a ticked off 70 lb Doberman. So, I cut the line and off we went to the vet. They had to put her under in order to remove the hook. Cost me $250.

For a while we considered starting a doggie jewelry company. I mean if the teenagers all stick hooks in their bodies, maybe we could start a trend in canine fashion. She did look kind of punk and in dog years she was a teen ager. Maybe she was on to something...

In any event she recovered and any rods not stored properly are now instantly confiscated.

I am sure that scene will stay in your head forever. Hilarious in a painful way. Through the nail? OMG, that had to hurt.

No it didn't hurt me one little bit, of course the old man screamed for a few. This happened well over 20 years ago and I do indeed still chuckle at the scene. And yes, the hook went into the center of his thumbprint and came out in the middle of his thumbnail.
You know come to think about it, I saw my father splitting wood with an ax, the ax bounced off the side of the block of wood and stuck on the inside of his ankle. He was off his feet for a while but he never screamed like he did when the hook went through his thumb. I waited until the next day to tell the ex-marine Korean war vet that he screamed like a little girl and almost as loud as my sister. I was surprised to find out he still did not have a sense of humor about the ordeal.

i recently read btuvis incedent with a fish hook and thought it was funny, the next day i went up north and was bringing in a large catfish out of the net, he flopped and set the hook into my middle finger extra deep, ALL PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS......... what they do at the hospital is push the hook forward to get the tip and barb pokeing back out then cut the hook at the bottom and just pull it out from the tip, knowing this could save someone alot of money!!!!!!

While fishing a school of specks with my older cousin, his dad and my dad, my cousin, in his excitement, cast his lure right into the back of my father's neck. The trout fishing was so hot that my dad refused to let my uncle attend to the problem except for cutting the line so that my cousin could replace the lure and keep fishing. My cousin tried to focus on the fishing but felt badly and just sat there. My dad, with the lure hanging from the back of his neck, finally put his rod down and sat beside my cousin to comfort him. His efforts to comfort my 12 year old cousin only made my cousin cry. Finally my uncle snipped the end of the hook and pulled it out of my dad's neck. It took my cousin some time to get over this incident but once he did it became his favorite story. He loved to turn to my dad and say "Remember when I - -
