93 omc shifting issue

o.k., after reading many threads I have to say my issue is a little different then the ones I have read. I have a 1993 5.0L omc with cobra outdrive, in the driveway, and when the boat just hits the water(motor's cold) it shifts perfect. After warm I can shift into gear (forward or reverse) fine, but once in gear I struggle to get back out? Makes coming into the boat launch real interesting! Any ideas? thanks, Keith

Let the engine warm up on muffs in your driveway and see if the problem still occurs. If so, see if your shift interrupt switch is working by manually pressing the microswitch back on the shift linkage. The engine should stumble. If not, something's wrong with your shift interrupt.

Regardless, if you don't have a manual, you should have one on order!
