Engine ground

Quick question for all you guys I hope:

I can't reach the stud designated for ground on my engine (I think it's in the wrong hole, my fault) so I've been using one of my riser bolts as a ground for a while.

But in fixing my wire routing last night (it's a mess due to POs) I moved the main ground to the thermostat housing. Is there any problem leaving it there for a while until I move the ground stud somewhere useful? What's connected there is the black cable from the battery and one smaller ground.

Erik

PS: I also figured out that the trim sensor was connected back to back to the shift interrupt switch. Yes, I'm an idiot.

Re: Engine ground

There is no "magical" spot for the engine ground... but having said that, it really should be in the block. There are quite a few spots on the block that you can use instead of something that you have to remove periodically - like a thermostat housing for instance.

And aluminum doesn't like electricity going through it to steel/cast iron.

Re: Engine ground

Gotcha.

I just moved it to a new spot attached to one of the exhaust manifolds. That'll work for the next couple months until I can pull the engine and move the grounding stud.

Thanks,
Erik

Re: Engine ground

Just remove a bellhousing bolt you can reach, may need a little longer bolt and put them all where they belong, move the stud later.
