55 Johnson wont start

I have a 55 Johnson model number: J55RSLJ

Had some trouble getting the motor to start, it been running good all day when I had shut it down. Went to start it again and it would not start after some time the motor started. On my way back into the dock I was only running haft speed when the motor just shutoff and would not start again. Checked the ball on the gas line it was hard, the gas tank was just about full I have also replaced the plugs and still won't start. When I removed the gas line from the motor a more then normal amount of gas came out of the line and motor.

Also, anyone able to tell me the year of my motor?

I would check and see if the valve on your gas tank was open. There should be a vent valve. I have experience the same problem as you, and the pressure from the gas heating in the day will cause allot of pressure on the line.

There is an excellent thread in the FAQ by JB entitled "Outboard Wont Start". Go through the paces and let us know what you find.

Regarding your year, I think you have a misprint there.
