I have a Quicksilver 3000 commander classic on a 1997 Crownline. The neutral button seem to pop out but It will not go into gear to get the propeller to spin. I started working it a little, now the button will not come out. I read other post and tried what they suggested. I removed the neutral button and sprayed WD-40 inside and no luck. I removed the bolt and handle no luck.

I did see some sort of cotton washer around the neutral button when I pulled it out?

Also when I removed the handle is there a marking to place the handle in the correct position?

I have a feeling I'm going to get charged tons of money if I take my boat to the repair shop.!!

Is it easier to but the 3000 new and replace it myself rather then get it fixed? If so has anybody ever done this? Is it easy?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to get this fixed and it doesn't seem it should be so difficult.

Please help!

Thanks!

Can the button be pushed back out from the back side? On my control (no idea what model, or anything) the button can be pushed back through a small hole on the other side. Mine stuck a while back, so I sprayed some lube in there, and worked it back and forth, and it works great again. You've gotta get things moving in order to get lube into them. Just spraying some WD-40 is usually not enough to get it to pop out on its own.

When I pulled the neutral button out there was some sort of washer around the button? Anybody know what this is? do I need it?

Is there a easy way to find out where the neutral position is for the throttle stick? After I removed the throttle like an idiot I didn't mark where neutral was!!

I just want to thank everyone involved for these forums. I had a problem with my Quicksilver remote and the reply posted by Don S really helped solve it. That is a very useful PDF file. Thanks!

Jerry:)
