I have a 93 40hp on my pontoon boat, recently it has got where it won't get over 1500 rpm in forward, in reverse it will rev up just fine. I have changed the fuel line, plugs, adjusted the carbs and nothing seems to make a difference. While running on the water I can push the key in repeatedly and it will get up to 4500rpm. Any advice?

what are you adjusting on the carbs, there are no adjustments. it sounds like you are in for a complete carb cleaning, and rebuild. i would check compression and spark with testers before anything.

Agreed, there is nothing to adjust.

Picking up RPM when you choke it is a dead giveaway that the high speed jet is partially clogged in at least one of the carburetors. But yes, always check the general health of the motor before starting repairs. Running with one clogged carburetor can cause very serious powerhead damage.
