dead batteries

i have a 55 hp 1972 or 1973 chrysler outboard , it runs very well the only problem my battery will go dead after about 5 or 6 restarts can anyone give me feedback in what they think it could be !!sometimes it will go dead after going full boar around the lake any ideas is there a recharging system on this motor that might not be working???

Off of a good battery you should be able to get way more than 5 or 6 restarts. How is old your battery? Deep Cycle Marine 12V? Chances are your motor is recharging the battery but its just your battery is almost dead.

sorry forgot tp mention it was a brand new marine battery 800 cold cranking amps, also had my used one too

i had the same issue with my 800 cca battery. i went to a 1000mca and never had another issue. be sure to keep an eye on the water level even though it's maint. free you still need to check the water levels.

Do you have a lot of axillary items running?
(fishfinder - stereo - navigatioanal aids - etc)
They can cause a lot of drain on the charging system and the battery
