Kayot Identification required

Hello All:
I am anxious to find out the Model and hopefully the year of this Kayot...

I do not know of any open-hulled Kayots since the early 70s...but it appears original (unless the deckboat upper was cut out professionally)

If anyone knows what this is..and how old it is, I would greatly appreciate it...

There is no registration plate, transom stamp, Serial# or outer markings that I could trace through the licensing office...so all I have is you!...

Help....and thanks in advance....Phil.

Just to let you know, I could be wrong, but there seems to be another boat hiding in that Kayot. Just thought I'd point that out in case you didn't notice... ;)

Heh Heh...they do tend to get hungry more often than most other makes...

Yeah, I should have mentioned that other hitchhiker....this was a donation gesture by a kind old sole who offered them both up for auction to support a local animal rescue operation...the smaller one went quick...but the Kayot did not...which is my good fortune as this hull is PERFECT for my intended freshwater fisher project...the transom is a tad weak but I have the perfect solution for that in the form of some laminated aluminum and carbon fiber that I have been keeping for god knows what.

I just wish I had some specs on the transom load rating and the overall construction process in order to plan the floor, mounts, seating and power unit.

Also...I need this info to properly register and insure it once I'm ready to get it wet.

Thanks for the heads up about the smaller boat, though...I can just imagine the inevitable posts if I did not clear that up.

I checked www.fiberglassics.com and didn't even see a section for Kayot. I don't know any other resource sites, I just read this sub-forum because I wish I had the time and know how to do a restoration.

Somebody will happen along that will know. Good luck!

Thanks for checking...I appreciate it nonetheless...

The transom is shot (yippie!) and I need to strip out the inner glass in places to replace some of the foam, so this puppy is not going to be in the water until next spring...so hopefully by then I'll have some more data to go on...

The great thing about doing an extensive reno is that you can pretty much "spec" your own boat by doing things right and doing more than is needed and in this case I want to really do something special.

My only concern is the high speed stability of this hull design when I'm only guessing at power ratings and weight distribution...but first things first...I have a date with a Seacast distributor...(ouch!)

Thanks again.
