Hi all. New to the site and will be checking in frequently. Started boating last year and absolutely love it! As my screen name says.. I have a Tahoe Q4 18.5 open bow. I am also new to fishing. :)

I installed Berkley rod holders to each side rail and my first question is.. do you think these are strong enough to troll with?

I would also like to install a couple of flush mount rod holder just behind the rear cushion but am not sure if it will compromise the structural integrity of the boat? I am also unsure of the best location.. I would like them about 12" out of each side of the ski pole. Does this sound okay? Also need to know what degree of angle I should get? 30 seems to be most popular.

Thanks in advance.. pics attached.

What kind of fish are you looking to catch? I certainly would not be looking for anything too big with plastic holders

Re: rod holders help..

You're all right for bottom fishing but I wouldn't try using them for trolling.

The most common angle of rod holder is 30 degrees although I have 2-15 degree and 2-0 degree holders on mine as well.
