this is the strangest storm we have ever had. it's been like a 5 day nor'easter, and the worst is still to come for us. doesn't matter, tomorrow i'm headed for the Keys, for 10 days, where the weather is beautiful. will clean up any mess when i get home.

Did it dump a lot of rain on you folks down there? The last big TS that flipped up the East Coast, before it headed back direct to sea, left 6 inches of rain in less than 24 hours on the East Coast of Canada.

Just wondering if you folks down in FL (in addition to the winds) get that amount of rainfall each time or is that normal amounts for these storms?

the mid east coast has had 20 inches of rain in 3 days, 8,000 homes flooded. the storm is hardly moving, just dumping rain, and winds to 60 mph.

Wow... that's a lot of rain. Never experienced that, ours is usually that in snowfall instead. No flooding, just weight on your rooftops and a lot of shovelling. Now my back hurts thinking about fall/winter coming.

Hope it stops soon for you guys and heads back out to sea.

I think LT wants it to go through Georgia and hit South Carolina where they could use some serious percipitation ... not THAT much in THAT SHORT OF TIME, but they are hoping for some moisture from Fay, but she is a typical woman and doesn't want to cooperate! ;)

Re: Fay please go away

it is still throwing tropicals storm winds, center persay, is about 50 -70 miles south of us. it's not that bad a storm, the size and not moving is the problem. and having 4 125 ft tall sycamores, along the back fence is creepy.

Re: Fay please go away

Several of my workmates are supposed to fly INTO Daytona Friday - 10 am.

Sort of a gypsy vacation with no hotel reservations or anyplace they have to be.
Do you think there is any chance they will be fly in there?

IF possible, should they go fly into Miami, rent a car, and drive to the keys?

I think these girls are crazy, but feel bad that they are so...... umm, .... stupid.

Any suggestions?

miami and the Keys, i'm leaving tomorrow PM for the Keys. Daytona is in the lull right now, and has the back half the storm to go thru. we are getting 50mph stead winds and rain right now. Daytona is not going to a pretty place to visit, maybe Ft Lauderdale.

Re: Fay please go away

I was just thinking about making a thread asking how things are going down your way TD. I also have some relatives that live down there, 2 of them that I have met in person live in the handle or around there, the others are deeper south.

I hope you get to enjoy your get away to the Keys. Also hope that you don't receive any damage and that everybody comes out of this safe and sound. Send some of the rain toward Bama.

TD,

Be careful on the drive south. You know how slick those Florida highways can get with that much rain on them. I haven't been to Key West in almost 40 years when I was an aircrewman student in the navy. If the bar is still open at the corner of Roosevelt and White Street, stop in and have a cold something for me.;)
