Haven't we been here before? It appears to be the rage once again. Seems it was tried 20ish years ago and it was a considerable disaster. Even the Feds ended up tying Federal Highway funds to raising the age back up to 21.

There is a certain logic to lowering the age to 18. You are legally independent, can sign contracts, get killed in conflicts, get married, etc etc.

By 18 we were letting our two kids sample various adult beverages and they never got carried away. Both went away to school, having been introduced to alcohol and never went nuts but then they were both homeschooled so were immune to peer pressure and left the house with a strong sense of self and responsibility.

What say you all?

When I was 18 I said he11 yes :eek:.....................looking back, I'm not sure 21 is old enough.:confused:..........a lot depends on the individual..........and that can not be legislated............so we make rules/laws to the lowest common denominator...............:rolleyes:

When I was a kid in Holland, there was no drinking age.In bars you had to be sixteen in order to be served, but a four year old could walk into a store and buy a bottle of whiskey. There was alcoholism of course, but youth drinking binges were very rare, mostly because there was no ego thing around consumption of alcoholic beverages. On the air force base where I grew up the rules were much stricter.

I think,....the more you hold it up, as far as the bar thing that is(legal age). You get more problems.

NOW. If you bring the bar down to where the age to vote/military is , they get smarter real quick.

Set one age for everything.

just my 2 cents.

If you wanted to start a war, why not assassinate someone or bomb someone's fleet?

This is just too hot a topic. Sorry.
