Re: American pronounciation

Now we have examples of how pronunciation varies. When I grew up in Iowa and Minnesota, when you cleaned the dishes or your clothes, you "warshed" them. really don't know how the 'r' sound got in there. Friends that grew up near Terre Haute Indiana talk about trimming the 'booshes' in their yard.

We could go on and on about American regional variations, but I'm curious...

Surely there are regional variations in Australia? I know there are regional variations in the UK, but can't think of any at the moment. Can anyone share some of these?

thats very true. I was born and raised in Minneapolis and my O.L. is from N.D. I always poke fun at her for how she says some city and street names. Onamia, shakopee, nicollet, Xerxes, Edina etc.

No I think he means the big cat, or Jaguar, that car that comes from the auto company in India, whats it called Tata Motors I think.

Used to be a Ford but not anymore. :(

Back to English. I think the worst at English, are the Pakistani and the Indian speakers, but again, they learned it from the English.
