Re: Am I in the worng here? Need advise

I've noticed over the years that every now and again a new member makes a post about the problem they are having, and if they don't get instant replies and satisfaction, then they make snide remarks about the worthiness of the forums.

Just happens. Some people just expect everyone to wait on them hand and foot as if they are the only person that deserves attention to their problems.

If you ignore them, they generally just go away.

Around here, we call them "primadonnas".

Achris did nothing wrong, and everything right.

Re: Am I in the worng here? Need advise

I try to answer any questions for which I have an answer. All too often, the person asking never shows up again or, if they do, don't acknowledge the answer or ask further questions.

Such is life on forums like this.

I try to be patient, but it does get old when someone comes here with a question, provides little to no information, uses text message shortcuts, then gets ticked off when a member here asks for further details. Normally, I just abandon threads like those.

My favorites, though, are the threads that begin with the subject of the thread being the same as the poster's screen name. I simply don't open those at all. Very few new posters bother to read the "How to ask questions that will get answers sticky."

Still, many do try very hard to provide the pertinent information. Those posters are the ones who get the most help, and who generally get solutions to their problems. Messages like the one below...not so much...

I didn't see anything out of line.

The second URL you posted was unavailable though.

Sounded like he could have had a broken vertical shaft.

Im new to this site also Chris. As a newcomer Id like to say that Im quite shocked that you or no one else here dropped what they were doing and flew, drove, or walked to this guys house to fix his problem for him! Isnt that what this site is for? hehehe.

Doesnt look like you did anything wrong. This site is great, I see some good information passed along. Im marine-challenged at times especially when it comes to outboards and wiring. Ive found alot of interesting stuff posted here so keep up the good work guys.

Yes. If you got bashed someone needs to be smitten...no...smote? "Smited" just doesn't sound right.

At least yelled at.

Report the post, PM me links but don't start a vigilante movement. That wouldn't last an hour.
'Smited' is perfectly acceptable....
Kinda like 'hanged'........:D

It would be easy to go with the flow but I don't understand the need for either the year or serial number to answer a question so simple, in as much as anyone that has repaired Mercury outboards for very long should know that all 9.8 Mercurys shift on the same principal. When I see the same question asked in response time after time by some individuals I thought they are just padding or not experienced, when accompanied with cute remarks it is borderline sarcasm. It would be no different if I had a cute remark about the word "worng". Two wrongs never make a right guys. Bob

I agree... and thanks for helping him.

Obviously your help is greatly appreciated around here but to me you sounded condescending knowing full well this guy was pretty much clues-less and out of his realm like most new posters who are looking for a quick fix, it just seemed like you wanted to him know you were the smart one here.
