Longer shackles?

I recently installed surge/disc brakes on my bass boat trailer when I went to a smaller tow vehicle. In order to do this I had to install another axle due to the fact the factory beam did not have brake flanges. The factory axle was a spring under 2" drop, 90" wms-wms. The only axle I could find in the correct width was 4" drop axle. When installed "spring under" it sits too low and the tires hit the fenders on hard bumps. When I tried flipping the axle and running it "spring over" the trailer sits too high and it is very hard to load/unload the boat, I have to back further into the water to get the boat floating.

When I went "spring over" I tried some very short shackles. Still too high. When I had it "spring under" I tried the longest shackles I could find locally which are 3.5" center to center.

I need some 5" shackles to get things as they should be.

Is there a source out there that sells shackles made at those longer lengths?

Re: Longer shackles?

You're seriously complaining about $5.15 each!! If I were you I'd just spend the $20.60 and be done with it. Otherwise, make some yourself.

Yep, I'm a cheap bas***d! I could make my own I guess at the machine shop at work.

I'll go ahead and spend the $21 for the new ones but most shackles are only $10 for a complete set around here.
