Standard Rotation

The mechanic hooked up the motor and the boat went backwards, then he tried to change the throttle cables and after that didn't work he sold me a $400 counter four blade prop.
Guys is it possible to connect the throttle cables to make a standard rotation motor act as a counter?

Second question:

Is there a problem with running just a single counter rotating engine?

Thanks again!

Re: Standard Rotation

As far as I know the volvo is the only setup you can select rotation.
No problem running a counter rotation motor though prop torque may be a little more obvious and in the oposite direction. Then there is the limited CC prop selection/price.

Re: Standard Rotation

Changing the throttle cable position has nothing to do with the way a motor shifts. If it's an OMC / BRP control it, most likely, will have only one position for the shift cable. Aftermerket controls do sometimes have provisions to hook the shift cable to work in either direction.

The first thing you need to do is figure out if you really have a counter rotating gearcase or not. If you have a standard gearcase and are running on the reverse gear it won't last very long.

Look real close at the end of the propshaft. If it's a cr gearcase it'll have a "C" or "CR" stamped on the very end. If there's nothing there, it's a standard gearcase.
