plastic tube in crankcase

When doing an oil change on a 2004 honda bf50 I used an electric pump. A plastic tube was inserted in the dip stick port. The oil was pumped out , but the tube got stuck when I tried to remove it. I tugged on it only to find the end had a diagonal slice which left a piece about 1 1/2 inches long by 1/4 inch long of plastic tube in the crankcase. I refilled the engine oil added a new filter. I ran the engine at slow speed for a few minutes at the dock and did not detect any problems or alarms. I increased rpm to 5k for a minute or so , again no alarms. I left the slip for 3 hours and ran under normal conditions . When I pull the boat out I plan to drain the engine from the drain plug and hope the tube will be able to come out. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: plastic tube in crankcase

I know this is something that will bother you until you actually see that tube out.The reality is that it probably is no big deal as long as that plastic is heat tolerant. You have a filter screen at the bottom of the oil pickup to keep things like that from being sucked up into the pump.If you want to try getting it out, warm the engine up to thin the oil, tilt the engine all the way in and raise the bow of the boat if you can, remove the plug and hope gravity do'es it's thing.Good luck.
