Re: New To Boating

You guys are sad :D if this was a guy, this thread would be about 2 posts long. The first one world be "Buy a friggin manual" and the second would be "go take a boating course".....(that was said, but much nicer...)

Now me, I'm different. This could really be a guy playing like he's a girl. Could you please post a picture of yourself lounging on the front of the boat? (just playin' around) :D

Sweetie pie, (used as a term of endearment) if you're from the left coast of Florida, you just got yourself a new Captain!
However, if your left coast is California, keep hiring the Captain you've got and pay LOTS of attention to what he does!
I'm sure you've heard this before; nothing takes the place of experience. ;)

Hi Newbee...

Just curious-is your boyfriend uninvolved in this boating experience?

If enough negative experiences continue, you will probably get tired of boating and "never come back"

Honestly, I also think this is a guy "posing as a girl" we all want to help, but my guess is we are being taken advantage of!!!

You dont have to send a pic. But, would love to know more about your situation!

Thanks Newbe (it really is a great user name-cute!)

Re: New To Boating

We've all got lots of questions, and lots of answers for you. The trick is to get 'em to match up.

Two excellent suggestions so far -- see if your state DNR has a boating guide, and take a boating class usually offered by the Coast Guard Auxiliary or Power Squadron. Ask around the marina -- I'm sure they'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

A third excellent suggestions so far -- keep hiring the captain you have been, and watch him carefully to see what he does. Write it down. But let me extend that suggestion a bit. Tell him you are hiring him to teach you, and you're sure it'll take a few more times out. In addition to learning what he's doing, learn *why* he's doing it. Glean as much as you can about why he does things and doesn't do others. It may be personal preference, but I'm sure he's noticing little things and making constant adjustments because of those almost subconscious observations.

Finally, hire him for a final lesson or two, to watch *you* run the boat, and suggest and critique your performance (and step in if he feels it necessary to prevent a major problem).

uh.....um......yeah! Very odd thread.

Here's my advise - sell the boat, get a normal boyfriend, then write to Dear Abby (or whomever solves such problems) instead of a boating forum.

Ha ha, this is too funny! I'm a newbie to this site and it's good to see guys will be guys regardless of what toy they're sittin in! Thanks!!!

I frequent a Mustang owners site and a guy will get no replies to a question every member knows the answer to but... if a member named hotchick or something post the same question??? she gets pages of advice!
