Just completed a nice power head rebuild. Just now fired her up and runs pretty good. The previous owner may have messed with the Slow running needle jets so the settings may be anywhere. The manual does not give an initial set point or any procedure.
Does anyone have this info.
Thanks.
Jim.

you're carb,...has 'fixed' jets,..both HS & LS....and they get screwed in till seated....if u did not do this during a pwrhd rebuild......u r walking backwards...this is an absolute dont forget must,..as well as a COMPLETE,new wtr pump kit.....this,is the basics,of a rebuild job......and,no matter how good the fuel pump is,..repl it...its just good business to get the new eng,..in the best poss shape,it can be,as 'new'.

Well JWBMarine you certainly have got your Knickers in a twist. I would say that you have mistaken my motor for another. However I do thank you for your response.
I still need the preset setting for the idle needles. Could it be 1.5 turns out like so many motors?
Please keep trying.

One of the things folks do here is to try to give correct information to people who ask questions. You're new here, so maybe you weren't aware of that. The 1991 70 hp most definitely has an adjustable slow speed needle. So, what you told this poster was completely incorrect.

Please try to make sure that you know what you're talking about before giving advice to others on this forum. Also, try to write in complete words, since many users here write and read English as a second language. This is not a texting forum, and many people don't understand texting shortcuts.

Thanks for trying to help others, but please try to make sure your posts are truly helpful. That way, others don't have to correct your posts.

CatTransplant thanks for your backup on this. Your admonishment was well deserved.

James R,
I have a '92 70hp which I to rebuilt the power head. I doubled checked the manuel and you lightly turn the screws in until they seat then back them out one turn. Adjust each carb from there.
Clockwise to lean, counter clockwise to richen. You'll have to find a happy medium. And run double oil for the first twenty hours mixing up your RPM's about every fifteen minutes. No WOT!
