power loss

My 1986 v-6 135 Mercury has a loss of power at 2500 rpm's.It has a good stream and runs well at low rpm's.Any ideas?

If it won't go beyond 2500 then it's probably a high speed stator winding if it just lags for a bit but will run WOT alright it's probably a clogged backdrag jet in the carbs.

Would that be starter winding,if not,what and where is a stator winding?Would carb cleaner take care of the back drag clog?

The stator is the windings under flywheel part of it charges the battery and the rest produces power for the ign system. No. You really need a manual if for no other reason or recognize parts

I have a simlar problem and have noticed my rectifier burnt, would the burnt rectifier affect my motor in this way?
