Hi Friends !
I have a 1985 50 hp Mercury and it is always flooding. There are good sparks - The spark plugs are the " flat type " not the conventionnal old type.
Could anybody help me with this ? Thank you !!

You could try cleaning the carbs and adjusting the floats, but if you go that far you should just spend the few dollars and rebuild. It took all of 45 minutes to clean and rebuild the two carbs on mine.

Re: 50 hp flooding - new needles in and now no start !

Thank you for your help ! I do not know how this post got "in" . I have did rebuild ( only the gaskets)the carbs. last year and last week put in new " inlet" needles and this fixed the flooding problem.

Since then, I have been unable to restart the motor . I hav new spark plugs, good fuel and sparks when I have the spark plugs outside the engine. Everything ids clean .I have tried ( it was kindly reccomended to me by one of our friends here )to heat up 2 plugs and pour a little gas in 2 cylinder but nothing !

I am at a total loss !

Thank you for any help out there !
