Knock in the outdrive or engine?

:confused:Hello, I was wondering how I can determine what outdrive I have. I'm new to the big boat thing and I'm looking for some guidance. I just bought a 26' 1998 Chris Craft Express. What I do know is its a Volvo DP with a Model number of T0821462. The reason I'm asking is that this past weekend I had allot of weight on board and when I went to WOT It started to knock almost like a bearing in the engine. A guy at the marina said it could be a U-Joint of some kind in the out drive. So I thought I would take it off and see if anything is loose or worn out. Any help would be great. Oh by the way I just bought it a month ago and it has 700 hours on her.

Thanks,
Mike

Your T0821462 is an OMC serial number for the outdrive, I would GUESS that it's the Volvo DPS, but not sure.
Can you get the FULL engine model number especially the last 4 letters.

I haven't looked for the engine model number yet. I will do that tonight. But The outdrive has two other numbers... Product # 3868708 and a Ratio of 1.95.

OK I found the problem! It was a head gasket. Nothing showed up in the oil so it must have been just going out of the exhaust. All should be good now. I cant wait for the ice to melt!

It's a DP-S1 outdrive. Volvo DP.
Here is a link where you can download the OEM service manual for it.

Ayuh,...

I've been downloading,+ saving a few of these Volvo manuals you've been posting,...
I don't suppose you're going to list,+ catalog these little Gems up in the Adults Only section are you Don,..?? ;) :D

Maybe you can even figure out a way for iboats to host them rather than 4share,..??
If there's any reason too, anyways,..??
