Operating temp for 99 Evinrude 10 hp 4stroke

Hello Outboard Experts:

I just bought a nice 1999 Evinrude 10 hp 4-stroke with rope start.

I'm a big chicken so I want to test the motor before taking it out. What is the proper operating temperature range after the Thermostat opens? I have borrowed a Raytek Infrared Temperature tester to check the temp while running in a garbage can.

Also, is this motor the same as the Johnson 9.9 ?
