Hey guys,

In the course of my life so far I?ve come across plenty of people with regrets they?ve had in their own lives. And seeing how life is so incredibly short? I just kind of wanted to see what everyone else?s regrets are.

Career-life objectives?
Relationships?
Family?

It would be pretty cool to learn from each other?s *mistakes* or to see what we would do differently at your age. So I guess when you post? it?ll be cool if you posted your age along with your posting.

Here?s mine:
I regret not spending enough time to keep in touch and to foster relationships with the significant people in my life. I feel like I?ve been too distracted with the other aspects of life (work and school primarily) that I just kinda lost touch with people I would rather not have lost touch with? I know its not too late.. but I feel like some relationships have deteriorated too much for full repair..

NONE

I know what I know from the things I messed up. I am thankful for all the things that went wrong in my life. I have grown to appreciate what I have and it has given me a realistic view on life.

Re: Life regrets

Not knowing what was important to me. In my early 20's I spet alot of time going to training to become a cop. After that I spent alot more working as one. During the same period I raced stock cars, which took WAY too much time. I had a baby/small child, fairly new wife, and a very limited budget. I THOUGHT those things were important to me but now know they weren't. I have 3 children now (13, 6, and almost 5 months old) and they are what life is about to me. My wife works 11A-11P so I am with them most of the time. While I do get stressed out sometimes I wouldn't change it for the world.

Career choices and school is a toss up. Sure I could have alot more than what I have now but I'm a simple man. I am most happiest when I see what the Lord has provided. I like to see nature in the raw.

I've recently began calling up people who've influenced my life. I tell them thank you for affecting me in a positive way and let them know they made a difference to me. Its good for them and its good for me.

Don't worry about the regrets, just strive to do the right thing today.

EDIT- I'm 34.

Re: Life regrets

Nice first post...............welcome aboard...............as for the questrion

Regrets? I've had a few,
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course -
Each careful step along the byway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way........................

Not my words but fits pretty well at this point in my life.;);):)

Re: Life regrets

My biggest regret is that there is never enough time, but this can't be helped.
Wait until you get a few more decades under your belt.
There are things I would have done differently, especially if I had a crystal ball.
Generally I do what I want when I want outside of obvious responsibilities and obligations. Simple pleasures are the best.

Re: Life regrets

I regret not pursuing a career in politics when I was young. They told me that anyone could be President of the United States if they wanted to. I thought they were lying so I didnt consider it possible. Today I realize that its true! ANYONE really can be the next President .

Ill be 47 next month, Ive lead a pretty exciting life. Done alot of things Ive wanted to, and things I didnt want to do but had to anyway. Ive made some bad choices in life that have put in places I never intended to be in.

Looking back I wouldnt change a thing. If i hadnt gone through that I never would have met my x-wife (even though we're divorced shes probally my best friend and we have a better relationship than when we were married) and had 2 beautiful children now ages 16 and 18.

If I had a crystal ball I proablly would have taken better care of myself. All those years of doing stupid stuff is catching up with me today. I have herniated discs in my neck and back (degenerating in back also), probally from not asking for help when I shoulda. Diverticulitus from not eating right, and spots on my lungs from who knows what (maybe asbestos from brake shoes or the 2 packs of marlboros a day i used to smoke).

All in all, life is pretty good today. I dont have too many complaints or regrets. I suppose I coulda spent more time with loved ones and family, but sometimes that isnt always possible due to work and other obligations.

I am who I am and life is what it is. The house, cars and boats are paid for, I work as little as possible and fish as often as I can. Im happy most the time so I guess thats good right? :) I try to help others when I can and just try to do the next right thing on a daily basis.

Its never too late to try to fix a broken relationship if its important to you rubiksolved. If you honestly try and it doesnt work out atleast youll have no regrets ;)

Re: Life regrets

26 years old>>>

I have a ton of regrets that at one time or another I wish I could re-live or do over. But just when I think how horrible that was or how stupid I was something happens in my life to make me think different.

example....I was married and divorced back when i was 22 years old. If that effent didnt happen and I didnt get married. my life would be a 180 from where is it today. And I think im heading in agreat direction now.

God has a plan I just know it....

Likewise,

Tons of stuff in my life that I am pissed I had to go through, 0 things that I regret and would do over. I am loving life now and realize that every single thing, wrong or right, has done course corrections to get me to where I am today.

Re: Life regrets

Neat post.

Very few life regrets. Career and job wise I wouldn't change even the slightest thing. I'm perfectly happy where I am and always have been.

I wish I hadn't been such a punk when I was younger, i.e. high school. I wish I would have directed more energy toward sports or some other constructive activity. Joined the military at 18 and BAM, totally different person overnight. Best thing I ever did. Getting married at 30 straightened out any left over kinks.

Re: Life regrets

I too wish I had been easier on my self when younger. I did everything to an EXTREME, before it became a catch phrase, I have raced everything from Dirt bikes, Snow mobiles, Dirt track, (6cyl & V8's) 4X4's and 9sec Nova's. (IHRA/NHRA):D
Dr.s have rebuilt, Rht Elbow (plastic), Lft. Knee (plastic/Stainless),Lft. wrist(pinned), Nose (Plastic), Jaw(twice) and last 6 operations in the last 3 years, to put my insides back together after breaking a drive axle at 128mph. I was 51 years immature then.:D

I regret the fact that I went through 4 wives, before I found the one I have now (16yrs.) and that I was a real SL$% before. That it took me soooooo long to realize, that not every thing is greener on the other side of the fence!
That on too many occasions, I probably hurt more people than any one has the right to.
That I put this in an open forum and will probably get sh57 on for it!;)

Re: Life regrets

Regrets..... Boy.... Well so far I have done alot of stupid, destructive, and misguided things. Most of them have taught me what not to do, unfortunately I had to do them in the first place to learn. I dunno, I guess if you stop doing it once you realize its a mistake your doing alright.

Never gonna know what you'll regret untill you've allready done it
