Green wire

I recently purchased a 2003 crestliner superhawk. When I went to change the starting battery, I noticed a green wire in the wiring bundle that came into the battery area, that was not connected to anything. The end was stripped like it was connected to something at one time. I know that the previous owner had swapped batteries just before I got it because they had left the radio on. I can't see where the wire goes after it leaves the battey area. Should this be connected to the negative terminal? Any ideas??

Re: Green wire

It shouldn't be connected to anything until you figure out what it's for. Check the other end of the "boat harness" not the "engine harness". You should see it come out there. If it doesn't, my next question would be "does the gas gauge work". If it doesn't, that green wire is likely the ground wire for the fuel sender and in that case it should be grounded.
