When did fiberglass floors start?

I'm considering buying another boat, something newer, bigger and better. I'm looking for a tow boat for wake boarding, skiing and tubing. All the new boats seem to have fiberglass floors but about when did fiberglass floors become mainstream? I'm sure it varies with different manufacturers and would be difficult to say one year but where should I begin to look? 90's? 2000s?

fiberglass boat originally had glass decks, then the bling thing came in softer cooler to walk bare foot, then the rot problems started. people are tired of replacing decks, and going back to glass. my big boat had the removable carpet. it was in it when delivered, remove immediately, and never been back in the boat.

FWIW, my old 1985 Wellcraft had a plywood floor, and I know for a fact that the same model had a fiberglass floor in 1987.

It all depends on the manufacturer and the boat model. Some put fiberglass flors in as early as the 1960's.

don't know if mine is mainstream or not. i'd guess not, though i think it was a popular boat in it's day. but, i have all fiberglass floors. an all fiberglass boat even, no wood stringers. and only a small piece of wood in the transom. aristocraft made all fiberglass boats when they changed from manufacturing with wood and went to glass, about 1960 i think. starting with the funliner....... http://www.aristocraftboats.com/
