Old ones good. The ones produced by the Renken family (the new owners) I would think twice about them.

Re: Mariah boats, how is the quality.

I owned a 1994 Talari 23' with the 7.4l Bravo III and really liked the boat. The original Mariah Boat Company went belly up in the late 90's. Their molds and the name were purchased by two separate companies (I don't recall by who), but they were split by the purchase by entry level and their bigger boats. The "new" Mariahs I viewed at last years boat show seemed like true entry level boats and were below par compared to the "original" Mariahs. Are you looking at new or used... personally, given the state of the Boat Business today ( a lot of downward market pressure), I would stick with the "bigger" companies, they stand a better chance of being around.

I forgot the model designation, is this the cuddy?? And what power does it have? And lastly is it the "Z" model (this makes a big difference in the price).Regardless, these are the things I liked about my boat (1994 240 Z Talari)
1) Vinyl on the interior was the best by far of any boat I have ever seen.
2) Everything on the boat worked for the entire time I had it (94 until 2004) (on board computer/temp, power seat, defrost, interior lighting, docking lights, power deck hatch)
3) I took care it and it looked like new after 10 years
4) Very heavy duty windshield and hardware
5) Very high quality tops and factory snap on covers. I also had the camper canvas (they were not sunbrella type and were a little heavey)

What I didn't like
1) The boat had started to develop a little gel coat micro cracking on the top of the boat, nothing major but I didn't like it.
2) The boat did not take rough water that well, this may have been due to the relatively large motor (7.4l) which made the boat a little tail heavy. Althoug I loved the power of the big block, I think the boat would have handled a little better with the 5.7l.

Check NADA.com for prices and compare the differences between the 225 and 225 Z. If it's the Z it's a fiar price. If not the price is high.

They were stoutly built, My '96 only has two rattles the glove box door(sometimes) and the swim ladder. Everything else is as solid as the day it was built.
