What happens when you move the throttle off idle?

Falls on face, will stall if not backed off. When first start up had to replace oil injector lines due to age dryrot

If you didn't replace the fuel lines at that time, It's probably about time to take the carbs down and clean out all the fuel line bits and pieces.

That engine is old enough to have foam floats in the carbs, also. They tend to sink with age.

That's assuming that spark is good and that the linkages are all advancing as they should.

hope it helps

Thanks. It was odd how it happened after idling down 4 mile no wake zone,it powered up fine ran 3/4 throttle for about a mile, I backed off to neutral to put minnow's into live well with fresh lake water. It wouldn't power up again. This was first time out this year other than start up out of water.I did empty contents of lowest carb bowl, nothing bad found.

Did you have water supply to it, ie rinsing muffs, when you started it out of the water?

Always,I know the conseqences, In fact kicker motor lost water pressure same day. Bad day on the water. Had to limp in with big motor at idle.Thought moduale might of had a limp mode. Also back on shore while trying to dionos, pumped bulb while increasing rpm didn't help the stumble.

That motor has no brains. First indication of trouble is either getting stranded, or rod cap in the back of the head.

Go through the steps. Compression, fuel, spark, and bang. It ain't rocket science fer sure.

hope it helps
