Can anyone give me a general idea of what a reasonable price for a used 2003model hydro hoist 4,400 lb boat lift would be. Any other thoughts or comments would also be appreciated.

In my neck of the woods probably about $3,000 plus or minus for wear will get you a used 8,000# unit. $5,500 for new 4,400# unit.

Not a bad lift.

No idea where you are located, but look at http://www.dockrealty.com/ for price ideas here in Mid-Missouri.

A little over $2k near atlanta. That does not include moving it (another $400 to $500). I would not try and move one, not a job for the do it yourself type, too much at risk and too many ways to get hurt (I am well versed in Dock Builidng). Make sure and check all the metal components that are at or below the water line. Hydro Hoist parts are really expensive (IMHO).

Things are sure a lot cheaper in the states! I purchased my 2400 lb'r for just under $3000.00 a couple of years ago and that was with a 20% off season discount! It is a great lift and will last me years so I can't complain to much....Irv964

Re: Boat Lift

The first lift I ever had was a 4000lb Hydro hoist "level lift" (a vast improvement over their first models). That was in 1985 and they were the only game in town and boy did they stick it to you. Since that time, Econolift and Floatair appeared and offered some real competition, 4 years ago, I bought 10,000lb float air and it was less than I paid for the first Hydrohoist 20 years earlier. A friend just bought a "poly" lift and it is really nice. No metal extends below the water line (unless of course it is down) and I think he paid around $4k installed for a 6000lb lift. Thank goodness for competition.
