Paint For the Top of Bow.. With Pictures

I have an older Starcraft V-150 that I removed the old horn and filled the holes with Marine Tex, they were right in the center indent of my bow I would like to paint the indent... kind of like a Deck stripe..


What type or Brand paint can I use?? I thought about Rustoleum but that fades in the sun...

i've been using Rustoleum for years, have not had any problems, and easy to touch up. both spray and brush/roll. i even sprayed a bimini top to match the boat.

Rustoleum Marine paint. I used it to paint my topper...good stuff. A pint will paint 3-4 thin coats on a 6ft topper with nice coverage with a super fine roller.

The Rustoleum that I was referring to was plain old Rustoleum I will try and see if any place locally has it in stock...

Well I went to my local Menards and picked me up some Gloss white Rustoleum marine paint and I'm going to try the roll and tip method tomm...

Post some photos...I plan on doing this soon, too. Need to get old hardware off first.

Well here's my 1st coat of paint I thinned it 50/50 to make it dry faster...

No I just sanded it with 220 grit and painted it...

You'll lose a lot of the glossiness by thinning that much.

Well Today I changed from the Cheap Yellow rollers I got from menards to a Better, Do it brand (shur-line) Roller This roller is way better.. You don't even have to pop the bubbles with a brush and it covers 2 times better....

I also used about 1/2 the thinner I was and Tomm I will probably roll it on Straight...

The Better rollers are worth the money...

I painted my topper just using rollers from Menards ( the white ones ) and just rolled the paint on. Not as nice as spraying, but the result is good enough to pass as a good paint job. I can make it nicer by wet sanding it and polishing it once the paint is thoroughly cured ( should be by now for me ).

BTW, this is Rustoleum Marine Bright White paint.:D

RUSTOLEUM?!?!?!?!?!?That would actually work?? I am guessing it would work on Aluminum as well. I could save big bucks on paint.

Yep, Rustoleum marine paint...the stuff I can't find locally for my project.

Rustoleum works for just about anything. I painted my aluminum boat with the non-marine version and it's holding up fine.

tmcalavy I picked my paint up at my local Menards they had all the different colors..

I painted with straight paint the last too coats not it's pretty bright... Maybe too Bright.....
