25 hp impeller

I have a 1972 johnson 25 hp short shaft, pull start outboard.
I am trying to change the impeller, and am having trouble with it.
I have removed the bolts on the lower end, and the unit has dropped about 1/2 an inch.
Then I removed a little plate about 1/3 of the way up the shaft.
I removed the bolt, and the shift linkage is now disengaged.
Problem is the bottom end wont come off.
What Am I missing?

probably drive shaft rusted to crank shaft. remove plugs, and rotate flywheel, maybe it will break loose. just start the bolts back in, so it does not fall when it releases.

I followed the instructions, threading in longer bolts, and jiggling the lower end up and down.
the lower end eventually released.
The drive shaft spline was very rusty.

besure to clean up, and grease, and use the oring on top of the drive shaft, when reassembling. you got lucky.
