I am curious about a red or orange lever (color blind ;-[ ) on carb between
2 intake throats ??!! does this lever regulate idle mixture ? or what is its
purpose ??! i can't get motor to idle after running 1-2 hours then trying to dock !! what should idle rpm be ? & can i adjust rpm at linkage as there is an
adjustment screw to set cam at a higher idle but, i don't want it too high so as to screw up shifting gears !! MR TASHASDADDY ! you have same motor
as mine ! do you have idle problems or know whats wrong !!
see previous posts ! new fuel pump, carbs cleaned, seafoamed, gas tank & lines replaced, new plugs, runs great all speeds to 4200 rpm ! won't stay running to use reverse when docking !! thanks a bunch guys !!! 70 yr old coot but, not a hazard yet ;-]] pls reply 9/13/08

joe if you are talking about the primer solenoid, Pic below, it acts as the choke, it has replaced the butterfly in the carb, it now injects fuel directly into the intake manifold, to enrichen the fuel ratio, when starting. the lever should be in the postion, as in the picture. if there is another lever, i am not aware of it.

your idle in the water, in gear, should be 600-750, will be a little higher in neutral. you may need a carb cleaning, if you can't get it to idle there.
