1987 90 HP Mercury

I'm thinking about buying a very clean moderate time 1987 model bass boat with a 90 HP Mercury with oil injection. Is this a good reliable engine? It belongs to a relative and I know it has been well maintained.

They are basically good engines but some have experienced stator problems and some have stripped oil pump drive failures.
